Murali Jagannathan is an Assistant Professor at the Building Technology, Construction Materials, and Management (BTCM) Group, Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Madras, with a specialization in construction contracts and claims management and construction dispute resolution. Before joining IIT Madras in June 2023, he was a faculty member at L&T Institute of Project Management, Chennai wherein he was involved in the training and development of corporate professionals of India’s largest construction firm, Larsen and Toubro Limited. Earlier to L&T IPM, he was an assistant professor of construction management at the National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR), Pune. In his role as a faculty at NICMAR, he was involved in regular student teaching, Management Development Programmes (MDPs), and academic administration. During his tenure as faculty in NICMAR, Murali has conducted MDP programs for World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Military Engineering Services, Water Resources Department, Government of Punjab, Public Works Department, Government of Maharashtra, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), National Rural Roads Development Agency, AFCONS, KEC, SPCPL, Maruti Suzuki, Maldives Government, Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Corporation Limited, among many others. Apart from the academic experience, Murali also brings in a rich industry experience. He has worked with the business development team at L&T Construction and was involved in the planning and coordination of projects located across India. He has also managed the contracts in brownfield and greenfield projects that involved extension of time (EOT) claims. Murali has authored many articles related to contract management, contractual disputes, and dispute resolution, which are published in renowned national and international journals and presented in conferences across the world.
